Well, we all have to start somewhere … it helps to have a good premise to a show and something solid to build it around. Not present, in which case you need strong, tight performers who are quick off the mark and can make anything funny by their delivery. Not present. The world of body building could lend itself to some hearty pisstaking but it doesn’t in this show. Strong characterisation and development might get it over the bar, or a narrative or a plot even. They could try parodying the culture of extreme physical development or being terribly politically incorrect about it all or something.
The show needs more layers, more thought, and the boys need to work on their personas. They have energy and are sweet but we don’t want sweet. We don’t buy the bi-sexual gags which seem chucked in for the sake of being a little bit rude. Throwing around anything to do with exercise and diet that might be amusing simply isn’t enough.
Guys - give us a story, give us characters, go and research the world you’re meant to be sending up and this show might not be so lame.
